Korean Market

On Saturday, Sejin and I went to a Korean market.

We also ate at a Korean restaurant. Here's Sejin. Here's me.

Mandarin Oriental

Thursday night we went to the Mardarin Oriental.

The group consisted of: Sejin and I; Rupa; Chris Hale; Wonbin; Jacob; and Dan.

Chicago Restaurant

Sejin and I went to the Dan Ryan Pub (a Chicago-style restaurant) in Hong Kong.

Before the restaurant, Sejin made dimsum at a YWCA class. (It was very tasty.)

After the restaurant, we went back to my office. I did a bit of work, and Sejin drank some water. (I think she was a little bored.)

Toronto Conference

I went to Toronto for an eye conference. There was a number of speakers and presentations.

New Territories

A group of people from my work visited the new territories.

We saw an old house, saw some interesting statues, and a big bridge.

Korean Restaurant

Just finished eating at a Korean Restaurant (Myung Ga). Very full.

Duck Day

Sunday was duck day.

We went to Tsim Sha Tsui . We had duck (here's it wrapped up), an oyster pancake, some rice, and a fish. It was a lot.

Macau

On Saturday we took a day trip to Macau with Cleary HK.

We visited Macau Tower, the Maritime Museum (another picture), a fort, and other places.

We also ate (alot!).

Typhoon

On Friday there was a typhoon warning. I got to leave work early.

Sejin and I didn't realize the warning was lifted at 7:45 pm and so we just stayed at home. Too bad.

Tokio Joe

We went for sushi on Thursday night at a place called Tokio Joe. (Yes, the spelling is right.) (The place was recommended by a stranger Sejin had bumped into.)

After sushi, Sejin had a drink.

Causeway Bay

We explored Causeway Bay on Wednesday night.

On the way we walked past my workplace. We took the subway to get to Causeway Bay.

We saw a Coke-a-Cola collector's shop and a Korean restaurant. Sejin prayed.

Up the Peak

On Monday Sejin and I went up the Peak via tram for our dinner.

Later Sejin attacked a man. (I also had to attack the man.)

Hong Kong: Day 1

We were tired our first day in Hong Kong--very very tired.

We tried to vist a sushi place, but instead ended up in an Irish pub named Dublin Jack's.

The food was nice. Sejin had potato skins. I had something else (I forgot the name).

We also walked by my workplace. It's in the Bank of China Tower.

Here's a picture of the first room of our apartment. We also have a bedroom. Most importantly we have air conditioning and two televisions.

In Flight

The flight to Hong Kong lasted about 20 hours. We had a brief stop over in Vancouver.

In HK

Sejin and I made it safely to Hong Kong. Pictures and posts to follow.

Off to Hong Kong

Sejin and I are off to Hong Kong tomorrow. We will update the blog from there.

Me and Spiderman

Me and my friend Derek went to Spiderman II, which we almost watched twice.

We also went to Starbucks. Here's me. Here's Derek.

We walked across the George Washington Bridge. Here's me next to the bridge.

I also saw a lot of garbage. (It reminded me of Dexter's bedroom!)

Touring

I toured the area near our apartment with my friend Derek.

We went to a cathedral and had some drinks.

Gangs of New York

Sejin and I went on a "Gangs of New York" walking tour.

It was pretty interesting.

After the event we went to an Italian restaurant called La Mela Ristorante.

The food was great and the drinks were good. (Although Wonbin drank all the wine.)

We ended up staying up way too late and eventually we saw a ghost.

Coney Island

Today (after some sleep) Sejin and I went to Coney Island.

We played minigolf. A picture of Sejin and me.

We ate some hotdogs and then rode on the Cyclone.

On the walk back to the subway station, we some police on horses.

July 4th

Sejin and I started our July 4th with a meal of stuffed mushrooms, cheesy potatoes, and lobster. The food was delicious and the lobster turned out well.

We met up with David Potterbaum, and saw some fireworks.

After the fireworks were over, we went to a bar called the Hairy Monk.

After we had a few drinks our eyes got really big. Here is Sejin. Here's David and here's me.

When Lobsters Attack

Sejin and I went to Jack's 99 World and the fish market today.

Along the way we passed Madison Square Gardens.

We bought some candy. First, Sejin was a turtle, and then I was a turtle.

After shopping we stopped at a bar.

Here's a picture of all the fish we bought. We got two lobsters, some salmon and sea bass.

We let the lobsters swim around a bit. I tickled a lobster.

Finally, the lobsters were tired and they had to go to bed. Here's me holding them. For some reason they moved closer to me.

Oh no! Then they attacked me!!!

Little Italy

Sejin and I went to Little Italy. (Actually we originally planned to go to the fish market in Chinatown.)

I think we ate too much!

(We also had appetizers. Yikes!)

Michael Ryan's Party

Sejin and I went to a party thrown by Michael Ryan. It was a nice event. We got to talk to a lot of people we knew, and we also met a few new people.

Unfortunately we only took pictures of Sejin. (Or is that fortunately?)

Urban Justice Center

On Wednesday, we went to a benefit for the Urban Justice Center. They had a blues band, and Virgil's Real BBQ (which we encountered during Threater Night.)

Saw a fellow U of C student and talked with people from my firm. Not a bad night. (Didn't win any of the auctions, though.)
