Peapod

crazy_peapod_order.jpg

See how much stuff we ordered from Peapod(an online grocery store).
We ordered 50 bottles of S. Pellegrino, 30 bottles of Perrier, 8 30-packs of beer, 2 gallons of orange juice, 1 gallon of milk, 2 yogurts and so on.

I think we don't need to go shopping any more. :)

Day trip to Washington

We had a day trip to Washington D.C. the day after we arrived in Chicago.

We saw Lake Michigan on the way. Dexter had a lot of cookies.

As there was the Native American Festival at one of the Smithsonian museums, we had a Native American style meal for lunch. (Although it was not very authentic.)

Dexter and I fed squirrels from our palms.

After lunch we went to a beautiful park and had a rest.

Here's Dexter having a nap, here is Dexter being really cute, and here is Dexter attacking me.

It was a beautiful sunny day.

We went to National Museum of Natural History, we saw a lot of strange animals that are extinct.

There also was the World's biggest diamond. I wished it were mine.

We also saw a lot of War Memorials.

After walking a few miles along through Washington Park, we got to Lincoln Memorial. Here are some pictures of Dexter and me in front of Lincoln's statue.
Lincoln_Memorial_Statue.JPG

Lincoln was looking at the Washington Monument straight ahead over the water.

We went to US Holocaust Memorial. I don't want to mention the details.

Then we walked to White House.
White_House.jpg
There was a gentleman(?) living in the house made with signs that reads "No War", "We want Peace" in the garden in front of White House.

We headed back to the airport via Metro and a bus.

It was a lot of fun despite the tight schedule. I'm sure Dexter wants to go back to Washington D.C as long as the museum admissions are still free. hehe

Goodbye Mom & Dad

Eventually my mom and dad had to leave.

Sejin's mom drove everyone to the airport. Sejin was there, as was Sejin's sister. (I was at work.)

Bye, bye. Hope you had a nice time.

Bu'dae'chi'gae

We had Bu'dae'chi'gae today. Bu'dae'chi'gae has somewhat unappetizing origins, but nowadays is a quite satisfying meal.

(I think Sejin enjoyed it.)

Here's a before and after shot.

Busan Fish Market

We visited a fish market in Busan (Jagalchi market). During our visit, an octopus attacked me.

(What a summer. I've been attacked by lobsters. See here. And Sejin. See here and here. And now an octopus.)

Later that day we went hiking in a nice place. Here's one picture, and here's another.

After that, we ate at a traditional-style restaurant.

(After that, dad and I returned to Seoul via KTX, a high-speed train.)

Gwanganri Beach

While in Busan, we visited Gwanganri beach.

beach_sejin.jpg

The city at night looks nice.

After that, we had Dwe'gi guk'bap (steamed pork stew). One of the specialities of Busan, and a very delightful dish. (It's nice to enjoy it with soju, a Korean alcohol.)

Mom and Dad seemed to enjoy it, and here's some more pictures.

Busan

We decided to visit Busan. This is where Sejin's family is originally from, and where I taught English for a year and a half. Before getting to Busan, we visited Sejin's grandparents. They were very nice. They gave my parents a lot of red peppers (which we turned into red pepper powder).

seji_me_busan.jpg

Busan has more nature than Seoul, which is nice.

After walking around for the day, we were smelly really bad (especially Sejin). We decided to visit a sauna. It was quite nice. It had a restaurant, numerous TVs, and various hot pools.

Here's some pictures.

After all that shopping, they took the subway.

Sejin joined me for dinner, but my parents (with Sejin's mom) went to a baseball game. The game was between the Unicorns and the Bears. (The Bears won.)

Yangpyeong

We took a trip to Yangpyeong, which is a temple (I think).

First, we had to stop for a nice photo near some water.

group_shop_yp.jpg

We saw a temple and another thing.

We did some hiking, but soon we had to go.

Before heading back to Seoul, we had some alcohol. We also had a nice meal outside.

Sejin, and my parents visited my office at Kim & Chang.

Sejin and my parents saw a pagoda in a glass box and a big gate.

After work, we went to my favorite restaurant in Korea... something something Garden.
