December 30, 2006Walking to workHere's what my daily walk to work looks like: 8:33am; 8:33am; 8:35am; 8:36am; 8:39am; 8:44am; 8:46am; 8:47am; 8:51am; 9:01am; 9:02am; 9:05am; 9:07am; 9:09am; 9:11am; 9:12am; 9:16am; 9:16am; 9:17am; 9:18am; 9:19am; 9:20am; 9:22am; 9:23am; 9:24am; 9:27am; 9:28am; 9:28am; 9:29am; 9:29am; 9:29am; 9:29am. I did it on a Saturday... so not quite the same. (There are more people, and I start my walk earlier.) December 27, 2006X-mas weekendHere's a bit of what I did on x-mas weekend. Here's some stuffing. Putting the duck in the stove. Looks tasty I better have a plate. After the food is gone, I better play some games. December 10, 2006NY Knicks
My friend, David, and I went to the NY Knicks game on Saturday. Some pictures from the game: Picture 1; Picture 2; Picture 3; Picture 4; Picture 5; Picture 6; Picture 7. The game was exciting. The Knicks came alive in the third quarter and started the fourth with a commanding lead. Their performance for the first minutes of the fourth quarter was—to say the least—lackluster. Eventually they woke up, and they won the game. After the game, we met our friends Andrew and Mirae. We had a small snack. December 03, 2006Getting a WiiOn November 19th, 2006, Nintendo launched its new game console, the Wii, in North America. For some reason, I decided I should get one. I arrived at the Jersey City Target at around 4:14am. There was already a substantial line. It turned out that I was number 50. The store had 63 units in stock, so I got one. I carefully opened it. There was lots of stuff inside. The unit is quite small. Not much bigger than my hand. Using the system is comfortable (the big innovation is the motion-sensing controllers). Here's a character I made. The system came with Wii Sports, and I bought a couple games, including Trauma Center and Zelda. February 01, 2006Bar Exam This January, I got sworn into the bar. Here's us waiting to get sworn in and then August 05, 2005Movie TimeWe decided to watch a movie at the Regal Crown Theater in downtown Manhattan (near the WTC site). We wanted to watch March of the Penguins. Sejin got a big popcorn.
Shortly after the movie started some drunks started making noise. After complaining about them, they threw water at me and Sejin. That wasn't nice. We decided to leave the theater. Maybe one day we'll get to watch that movie. August 02, 2005Heartland BreweryA very nice restaurant chain with locations throughout New York. Try it today.
A few more pictures: Sejin and Dexter; Andrew and Mirae; David w/ Dexter July 31, 2005Enjoying Beer
After attending a bbq with some people from work, Sejin and I went to test out the Heartland Brewery. Tasty beer. July 28, 2005July 09, 2005BBQ in Morningside ParkSejin, her mom, and I decided to enjoy a BBQ in a park near our apartment.
After eating a lot, Sejin was really very tired.
July 06, 2005Mamma MiaThis is the third time that Sejin has seen Mamma Mia. This time she is seeing it with her mother.
August 28, 2004An Elevator ReviewCleary New York: Cleary Hong Kong: Kim & Chang, Seoul: Conclusion: July 08, 2004Me and SpidermanMe and my friend Derek went to Spiderman II, which we almost watched twice.
We also went to Starbucks. Here's me. Here's Derek. We walked across the George Washington Bridge. Here's me next to the bridge. I also saw a lot of garbage. (It reminded me of Dexter's bedroom!) July 07, 2004TouringI toured the area near our apartment with my friend Derek.
We went to a cathedral and had some drinks. Here's one one picture of me. Here's another. Gangs of New YorkSejin and I went on a "Gangs of New York" walking tour.
It was pretty interesting. After the event we went to an Italian restaurant called La Mela Ristorante.
The food was great and the drinks were good. (Although Wonbin drank all the wine.) We ended up staying up way too late and eventually we saw a ghost. July 05, 2004Coney IslandToday (after some sleep) Sejin and I went to Coney Island.
We played minigolf. A picture of Sejin and me.
We ate some hotdogs and then rode on the Cyclone. On the walk back to the subway station, we some police on horses. July 4thSejin and I started our July 4th with a meal of stuffed mushrooms, cheesy potatoes, and lobster. The food was delicious and the lobster turned out well.
We met up with David Potterbaum, and saw some fireworks. After the fireworks were over, we went to a bar called the Hairy Monk. After we had a few drinks our eyes got really big. Here is Sejin. Here's David and here's me.
July 04, 2004When Lobsters AttackSejin and I went to Jack's 99 World and the fish market today. Along the way we passed Madison Square Gardens. We bought some candy. First, Sejin was a turtle, and then I was a turtle. After shopping we stopped at a bar.
Here's a picture of all the fish we bought. We got two lobsters, some salmon and sea bass. We let the lobsters swim around a bit. I tickled a lobster. Finally, the lobsters were tired and they had to go to bed. Here's me holding them. For some reason they moved closer to me. Oh no! Then they attacked me!!!
July 03, 2004Little ItalySejin and I went to Little Italy. (Actually we originally planned to go to the fish market in Chinatown.) I think we ate too much!
(We also had appetizers. Yikes!) July 02, 2004Michael Ryan's PartySejin and I went to a party thrown by Michael Ryan. It was a nice event. We got to talk to a lot of people we knew, and we also met a few new people. Unfortunately we only took pictures of Sejin. (Or is that fortunately?)
July 01, 2004Urban Justice CenterOn Wednesday, we went to a benefit for the Urban Justice Center. They had a blues band, and Virgil's Real BBQ (which we encountered during Threater Night.) Saw a fellow U of C student and talked with people from my firm. Not a bad night. (Didn't win any of the auctions, though.)
Here's a picture of Sejin after the party. June 29, 2004Flower decoration
This morning, I put the flowers in a cup. It turned out to be heart-shaped. :) June 28, 2004Salmon, Shrimp and FlowersDexter cooked salmon and pink baby shrimps for dinner.
He made it better than I did. He also got flowers for me for the first time ever! We even dated for two years before marriage! June 27, 2004Bronx ZooToday Sejin and I went to the Bronx Zoo.
We took the 1/9 subway to 96th Street and transfered to the 2 up to the Bronx. We saw a tiger, elephants, a peligan, flamingos, a wild pig, a duck, a gorilla, a pink bird (Close up), and a llama. Sejin ate a hot dog, laid an egg, and generally looked cute. We hatched from eggs. We were caterpillars and then we were turtles. There was a butterfly exhibit. We saw a zebra butterfly, an orange butterfyl, a group of butterflies, a blue-black butterfly, and another orange one. We came home after the zoo, and Sejin cooked me salmon. I hope its good.
June 26, 2004Sea BassSejin cooked Sea Bass for us tonight. It was very delicious! We also had some strawberries and some blueberries.
Fish MarketSejin and I started the day with a nice breakfast. I made an omlet and we also ate Sejin's dwen-jang-chi-gae. We went to a fish market today. We got sea bass, salmon, and some shrimp. I hope it'll be good. We also ate some sushi. It was okay, nothing special.
Later Sejin was sleepy. June 25, 2004At homeAfter a busy week, Sejin and I decided to eat at home. I made Chilean Sea Bass and Sejin made dwen-jang-chi-gae. I think Sejin enjoyed the meal.
So did I! June 24, 2004Cooking ClassSejin and I went to an Italian cooking class this evening.
We made raviolli and fritters. Sejin made me some hearts: Raviolli Heart; Fritter Heart. They served us lemon chicken, wine, espresso and sambuca.... It was fun, but there was so much food. SubwayYesterday I had the best subway driver. It was like being on a tour. At each stop, she announced the location and what locations were near the station. For example, at 34th Street she told us about Penn Station, and Macy's. She made everyone in the subway car happy. I had wished I could have gave her a big hug. June 23, 2004Nice DinnerSejin and I (among others) had a nice dinner at the home of Allan Sperling and his wife. The Sperlings had a very nice apartment. The food, drinks and dessert was just right. Here's a sign Sejin made:
June 22, 2004Tuesday Night BowlingTuesday night was bowling for Sejin and I. We went to the Bowlmor lanes. According to their website:" Bowlmor Lanes, a New York landmark since 1938, has been described as "an art gallery you can bowl in." Every detail was designed to create a feeling of sophisticated whimsy. Everyone from Richard Nixon to the Rolling Stones to Cameron Diaz has enjoyed Bowlmor — shouldn't you?" Click here. It was pretty fun. Sejin beat me. Sorry... no pictures... June 20, 2004Lazy SundayWe started the day off having brunch at a place called the Kitchenette. It was good. I had eggs, biscuits, and grits. Sejin had a turkey sandwich. It was big. It was bigger than Sejin's mouth. It was also bigger than my mouth. After that we went downtown. We saw a street market. Sejin had a gyro. Sejin looked really sweet.
We saw a nice building. On the way home, I wrote Sejin a note in Korean. The PartyDavid, Sejin and I went to a party last night.
We brought Wild Turkey but it was a bit strong. I preferred drinking beer. Sejin drank Corona. The party basically ended when the police came because of noise complaints. Too bad. June 19, 2004Saturday and the PhantomToday Sejin and I went to the Phantom of the Opera. It was okay. After the show we went to Olive Garden for dinner. We had this and this. Pretty tasty! (Although Sejin ate most of it.) The walk home (from the subway) was nice. Here's how the sky looked. Now we have to get ready for a party... More about that later... June 18, 2004So SleepyWell, after going out for the past four nights we decided to take it easy. Sejin and I met up at Tomo's Sushi for dinner. Unlike Yoro, the sushi was good. We started with a lot of sushi, but we end with none!! I should go nap... maybe we'll head out later. June 17, 2004Thursday Night PartyDavid, Sejin, Wonbin and I went to a party on Thursday. The event featured the Sugar Hill Gang. It was a charity event for inMotion. We saw some Chicago people at the event, including David Benner. Sejin danced with many guys: Guy 1; Guy 2; Guy 3. (I think Guy 3 was the nicest.) June 16, 2004Brooklyn BridgeSejin and I visited the Brooklyn Bridge. Sejin really loved that bridge. Here are some shots from the other side: Photo 1; Photo 2. After the bridge we had dinner at Bubby's.
Grocery ShoppingI went to the Met, our local grocery store. I bought 10 pounds of rice of at $2.99. I also got some milk at 1.99, laundry detergent at $1.99 + $0.17 tax, low fat yogurt at $1.99 and blueberries at $2.49.
I don't like Appletree!!! June 15, 2004Baseball DaySejin went to the Met's game while Dexter stayed and worked at his office. (David had gotten tickets.) Someone hit a home run! The Mets actually won. After the game Sejin met me for dinner. (We also saw a firetruck.) June 14, 2004Week ThreeWeek three at CGSH has started. I had to attend a dinner. After the dinner Sejin and I met in Times Square. We drank some juice. Sejin tried to drink some with her nose. Sejin bought a dress and some Homer Simpson boxers. The dress was $14.90 and the boxers were $3.90. What a good deal! Our SundaySejin started the day eating some chips. After that she did some shopping. We went to Battery Park with David Potterbaum. There were some umbrellas with butterflies on them. We also saw the Statue of Liberty. Sejin tried to eat the statue!! After that we ate and when a bar for drinks. Here's a picture of Sejin and David. June 12, 2004Busy SaturdaySejin and I visited the Museum of Sex. Here's the museum's sign. Here's a a list of "do not do's". It had some 'interesting' exhibits, including a history of Chinese foot binding. We also visited Grand Central Station. Here's Sejin. Then we walked over to Rockefeller Plaza. We visited Central Park. Sejin disobeyed a sign!! We also saw a duckie. Central Park was nice. We walked around, ate lunch on the grass, and watched a baseball game. Along the way we saw and Trump Tower and the sign for David Letterman.
We enjoyed the show, but I think we liked Mamma Mia better. PaydayToday was payday! I was happy. Sejin and I visited a Korean restaurant. We walked up to Times Square and Sejin got a sign with her name on it. We when then went to Ruby Foo's to have some drinks. It was crowded and service was only passable. Not too impressive. Finally, we headed home. June 11, 2004Mamma Mia!Thursday night was theater night at Cleary Gottlieb. Sejin and I went to Mamma Mia. It was very fun. After that we went to Virgil's Real BBQ. There was a really a lot of BBQ. When we first arrived they gave us chicken wings. We thought this was the meal. Surprisingly, roasted chicken, ribs, corn muffins, and greens showed up. (Sejin ate a lot!) We eventually made it home. What a nice night. To the TheaterI had to take a taxi to meet Dexter at the theater. The driver was quite fast and agressive. We made it to the theater quickly. When we pulled over a beggar came over to talk with the taxi driver. He asked for money. The taxi driver said no, and then surprisingly the beggar spit on the car window. The taxi driver had to clean the car window. He used whiskey! It is highly likely the taxi driver had been drinking that whiskey earlier. A tasty drink and a good window cleaner, too! June 08, 2004More SushiLet us tell you a story about a boat of sushi... Like the fated crew of the S.S. Minow, the story is not a happy one. Firstly, Sejin was really hungry. When the food came out we were generally impressed (see picture above). However, all was not well. The rolls were generally overpacked with rice and the fish lacked taste. The leftovers tell the sad tale: Leftover 1 and Leftover 2. Dexter and Sejin went home unhappy. If you visit New York, don't visit the Sushi restaurant Yoro at 106 Fulton Street.
June 07, 2004A Day At Work
Here's the view at 2:00 pm. Time to go home. It's now 6:50 pm. Time to eat! We're having curry and miyok soup. June 06, 2004June 5th
June 5th was full of shopping and looking around. The day started a bit late because Sejin was really sleepy. We visited the World Trade Center site: Picture 1 & Picture 2. The site is near my work place, here's a picture of Sejin in front of it. We finished the night with some sushi. June 05, 2004Last Night in NYCSejin and I (and my friend David) walked by the restaurant that is featured in Seinfeld. (Tom's Restaurant.) Actually only the outside part is in the television show. The inside looks much different. Also, we met Sponge Bob Square Pants. He was in a bad mood. After removing his costume to reveal a bitter old man, he began to swear profusely. He was upset at the police. After seeing us laugh, he apologized and resumed cursing. We had a few drinks at a nice bar, ate a giant sized pretzel, and went home. Pictures will follow... |
